Primary Coursework

Students at Immanuel are assessed and placed in our age-integrated primary classes of humanities, mathematics, and science that best fit their learning level.

Humanities
Humanities teaches language, reading, writing, history, art, Bible, and a rich Christian worldview. We study eras of time in a four-year rotation: Ancient World, Medieval World, Early Modern World, and Modern World/US History.

Mathematics
For mathematics, we use the Singapore mastery approach to facilitate the learning of how God ordered our world. Students study His language of numbers as they learn how to problem solve with concrete, pictorial, and abstract mathematical concepts.

Science
Through science, we strive to instill in our students a wonder of God's creation, a desire for truth, and investigative skills to discover truth. We rotate through various studies alongside our eras of time so that primary students are introduced to a wide range of scientific concepts, processes, and inventions.

Secondary Coursework

Students prepare for the rigor of high school in the lower secondary courses as they apply logical reasoning through robust humanities, comprehensive mathematics, and engaging science that prepares them for higher learning. Our high school program offers coursework that exceeds state requirements for graduation and equips students for a Christian life.

Humanities
Students in our secondary humanities courses engage in the rich writing practices honed by Greek progymnasmata exercises that include establishing a sound thesis, writing with clarity and integrity, and preparing for debates. Students will read both primary sources and fictional stories that embrace the eras of time we are studying. Examinations will stretch student thinking from the concrete to the philosophical as they use their skills of discernment to draw conclusions.

Mathematics
For mathematics, secondary students will begin building credit for transcripts as they move into high school course work. Our lower secondary math prepares students for algebraic thinking and true geometry where students learn to prove truth through logical processes.

Science
In our secondary scientific studies, students study general science concepts, earth science, biology, physical science, physics, and chemistry. Student learn about qualitative and quantitative information and how to discern truth through the scientific process.
